SKH Tsoi Kung Po Secondary School held its 23rd Speech Day cum Launching of Solar-cell System Ceremony on the 5th December 2009.
At the Service, the Chairman, the Rt. Revd. Louis Tsui highly appreciated the Guest-of-honour, Professor Yuk-Shee Chan for his great contribution to society and also congratulated the graduates on their efforts and achievements, reminding them to treasure and thank the supervisor, the principal, teachers and parents for their support and encouragement.
The Guest-of-honour, Professor Yuk-Shee Chan, President and Chair Professor of Finance of Lingnan University, in his address, told the graduates the story of John D. Rockefeller, a Standard Oil tycoon and big time philanthropist. His diligence and perseverance not only helped him overcome obstacles and challenges in work and life but also finally brought him very great success. Professor Chan encouraged graduates to achieve their life goals by learning and developing such fine qualities. Following his address, Professor Chan presented certificates to all graduates.
Mr Herman Tsoi was among the honoured guests and he presented the Tsoi’s scholarship on behalf of the Tsoi family who donated the scholarships.
The Principal, Mrs. Miranda Lai, in her annual report, mentioned diverse programmes, activities and measures implemented to strengthen students’ learning and morals and cater for learner diversity, such as the English Enhancement Scheme, remedial teaching and learning support programmes, enrichment classes, reading schemes, inter-school competitions, ongoing guidance, religious and life-wide learning activities organised by various subjects and committees, as well as working collaboratively with the Education Bureau, the S.K.H Church of the Good Shepherd and the Parent-Teacher Association to help students develop to their full capacity, build their self-confidence and promote mutual respect. The school had also been carefully working out the new NSS curriculum to provide an all-round development in the domains of ethics, intellect, physical education, social skills and aesthetics for all students. For professional development, teachers actively participated in training courses, lesson observations, school visits and collaborated with EDB on assessment for learning and curriculum planning projects. She also commended on the results of the public examinations and awards, which the students had achieved during the past year. Finally, she thanked all the parties for their continuous contribution to the school.
Apart from the graduation, the school also celebrated the Launching Ceremony of Solar-cell System. The aim of this system was to raise students’ awareness of environmental protection and make it into practice.
The day was embellished by an impressive performance of the School Choir and School Band. The Speech Day came to a close with the benediction of the Rt. Revd. Louis Tsui.

It is hoped that with the launching of Solar-cell System, students’ awareness of conservation will be enhanced.
